Special interest tours
Special interest tours in Kashmir.
Trips built around one interest: golf on four 18-hole courses, fly fishing for trout in snow-fed streams, the crafts and harvests of the valley, Kashmir by its food, and photography timed for the light and the season. Planned and run by a team in Srinagar.

The short answer
One interest at the centre, the rest of Kashmir around it.
A special interest trip starts with what you came for: the rounds you want to play, the rivers you want to fish, the food you want to eat or the pictures you want to take. We fit the season, the stays and the drives around that, and plan the rest of the trip for anyone travelling with you who does not share the interest. Anything another body issues, such as tee times or angling permits, we tell you plainly who issues it and how.

The interests we plan for
- Golf in Kashmir: Royal Springs and the Kashmir Golf Club in Srinagar, Gulmarg at 2,650 m and Pahalgam, from April to November.
- Trout fishing in Kashmir: fly fishing for brown trout from April to September, on permits you book with the Fisheries Department.
- A craft and harvest trail: Kani looms at Kanihama, carpets, papier-mâché and walnut carving in Srinagar, saffron at Pampore and the apple harvest.
- A food trip through Kashmir: a Wazwan meal, noon chai and bakery bread, harissa in winter, Kashmiri Pandit vegetarian cooking and the saffron fields.
- Photography in Kashmir and Ladakh: Dal Lake at dawn, chinar colour, snow, the old city and Ladakh’s night skies.
Other interests, planned on request
- Skiing and snowboarding in Gulmarg, December to March: see the Gulmarg skiing guide.
- Pilgrimages to Vaishno Devi, Amarnath and the shrines of the valley: see sacred journeys.
- The Tulip Garden and spring blossom: see the Tulip Garden guide.
- Chinar colour and the saffron harvest: see Kashmir in autumn.
- Slow days on a heritage houseboat: see the houseboat guide.
How we plan a special interest trip
Step 1
Your interest and dates
Tell us what you want to do, roughly when, who is travelling and how many days you have.
Step 2
The season check
We tell you straight if the month does not suit the interest: no trout season in winter, no golf under Gulmarg’s snow, no chinar colour in July.
Step 3
Plan and quote
A day-by-day plan with stays near the courses, rivers or locations, and an itemised quote. Anything booked by someone else is shown separately.
Step 4
Confirmations
Hotels, vehicles and the bookings we make are confirmed in writing. Where you book something yourself, such as an angling permit, we send you the steps and the dates.
Step 5
On the ground
A driver who knows the places, and a coordinator in Srinagar a phone call away throughout the trip.
Clubs, societies and company groups
Golf societies, angling clubs, photography clubs and food groups often travel together. Tell us the group size and dates and we plan a shared programme with the right vehicles and rooms. For company groups, see incentive trips and dealer meets.

Questions
What people ask us.
What is a special interest tour?
A trip planned around one interest, such as golf, fishing, food or photography, rather than the standard sightseeing loop. The season, the stays and the daily plan are chosen for that interest.
Can my family come if they do not share the interest?
Yes. We plan their days separately where it makes sense: gardens and a shikara while you play a round, or a walk in Pahalgam while you fish.
Do you publish prices for these trips?
No. Green fees, permit fees and the right hotels depend on the dates and the group, so every trip is quoted in writing, item by item.
Which areas do you cover?
Kashmir, Ladakh and Jammu, where our team works on the ground.
