IndiGo flies nonstop from Chandigarh to Srinagar in about an hour, which makes even a long weekend in Kashmir practical. By rail there is no through train: take an overnight train to Jammu Tawi or Katra, then the Vande Bharat into the valley. By road it is roughly 600 km, a long day, or two with a night in Jammu.

Getting from Chandigarh to Kashmir
The nonstop flights serve Mohali and Panchkula too, and travellers from across Punjab, Haryana and Himachal often fly from Chandigarh. Frequencies change by season, so check the schedule for your dates.
The train is the relaxed option: an overnight train to Jammu Tawi or Katra, then the morning Vande Bharat to Srinagar. It also lets you add Vaishno Devi on the way.

When to go from Chandigarh
May and June, when the plains are at their hottest, are the busiest months from Chandigarh and the most expensive. September and October are clearer and quieter. For snow, December to February: the flight is short, but keep a spare half day at the end in case snow delays it.
