Honest Travel Advisory
Who this Leh, Ladakh and the Changthang Lakes itinerary is NOT for
- •Anyone short on time: The Changthang lakes are a long way out on rough roads, and the nights are all above 4,000 m. If you only have five or six days, the Nubra and Pangong trip is the better fit.
- •Anyone with a heart or lung condition: This trip sleeps several nights above 4,000 m, higher and longer than the standard Ladakh loop. Take medical advice before you book, then talk to us.
If any of these apply to your party, speak to us and we will adapt the route.
Before you book
Questions on this itinerary.
What makes this different from the usual Ladakh trip?
It adds Tso Moriri and Tso Kar, the remote lakes on the Changthang plateau beyond Pangong, which the five-night Nubra–Pangong trips do not reach.
Are the permits a problem?
No. Tso Moriri, Pangong and Nubra all need the Inner Line permit (Protected Area Permit for foreign nationals); we arrange it as part of the trip.
When can you go?
June to September, when the plateau roads and the lake camps are open.
